| AMISH HORSE SHOE BRIDLE HOOKS In addition to making candles and soaps and weaving baskets my Amish neighbors have a small blacksmith shop where they shoe horses and such. While visiting one day I noticed they were taking some old discarded horse shoes and bending them into hooks to hang bridles on. I suggested a bit of cleaning up and paint and these would make attractive coat or utility hooks so they made a few "nice" ones up for me to sell here;-) The used shoe is placed in a hand fanned forge until it is red hot before it is bent so even though these have all been on horses' feet any undesirable dirt or germs are completely burned away. Once they have been bent and cooled they are painted with black enamel automotive paint that does not rub off. As pictured above they can be bent either right or left so using 2 opposite bends makes a nice display rack for anything you might like to hang between them or several may be set in a line for a nice coat rack or whatever else you may like.
